Hello and welcome back to the best (and quite possibly only) fortnightly 70s TV trivia podcast!
This is our 63rd quiz, which means we’ve now lobbed over 1,260 questions at you lovely lot. Well done if you’ve attempted them all.
Right, let’s crack on. As always, there are 20 questions across four rounds. Grab a pen and paper, pour yourself something nice, and let’s go!
🎤 Round 1: Catchphrase
Catchphrases were everywhere in the 70s. Some stars had one, some had several. This round is simple: I’ll give you the catchphrase, you tell me who said it. No accents, I promise.
1️⃣ “Hello My Darlings!”
2️⃣ “She knows, you know.”
3️⃣ “Nice to see you, to see you….”
4️⃣ “Time for bed.”
5️⃣ “It’s the way I tell ’em!”
🏃 Round 2: Marathon/Fil Rouge
Think you’ve been paying attention to our previous episodes? Let’s find out. These questions span everything from sci-fi computers to pop music shows. No pressure.
1️⃣ “The Tomorrow People” featured in April 2024. What was the name of the rather unrealistic looking (or maybe just cheaply constructed) computer in the Tomorrow People’s HQ?
2️⃣ Way back in April 2022 we looked at “Coronation Street” and “Crossroads.” Who played Benny Hawkins?
3️⃣ In December 2025 we took a look back at “Big John, Little John” featuring a grown man who kept changing into a 12 year old boy. What had John done to make this happen?
4️⃣ December 2023 saw us set sail in “The Love Boat.” What was the name of the ship in the TV show?
5️⃣ In April 2025 we remembered the various pop music shows targetted at us 70’s kids. What was the name of the show presented by Ayshea Brough?
🎵 Round 3: Name That Tune (1976)
5 theme tunes from shows first shown on UK TV in 1976. You’ll need to tune in to the podcast to play this round properly!
🎬 Round 4: TV Times
Our general 70s TV trivia round. No theme here, just good old-fashioned questions.
1️⃣ In “Bless This House” Sid James memorably played Sid Abbott. Who played his wife Jean?
2️⃣ Who starred as Jack Ford in North East drama “When the Boat Comes In?”
3️⃣ Which 1970’s TV rental company rented out equipment with the brand name “Baird?”
4️⃣ What was the name of the comedy series first shown in 1975 featuring George Layton and Jonathan Lynn as brothers, one of whom was a policeman and the other an anarchist student?
5️⃣ Who was the presenter of the Thames TV show “Today” when the Sex Pistols famously swore before the watershed at 9pm?

This Week’s Bonus: Which was the final ITV region to begin broadcasting in colour in July 1976?
Are you feeling smug, or was that a bit of a challenge? Let me know how you got on!
